Trip Itinerary
The Caps Road Crew will be hitting the road by bus traveling to Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey, to see the Caps take on their Eastern Conference rivals, the New Jersey Devils. This is a late season matchup of premiere goalies (our own Olie Kolzig vs. Martin Brodeur) and superstar skaters, including the Caps’ Peter Bondra and Jaromir Jagr, and the Devils’ Scott Stevens, a former Caps captain.
The CRC will make arrangements for bus transportation and group tickets. Unfortunately, due to the great demand for tickets to this game, we will not be able to provide tickets to those who do not travel on the bus with the Crew.
Current plans: The Crew will be meeting at Springfield Mall (just off I-95 in Springfield, VA) at 12:30 pm on March 1; the bus will depart at 1:00 pm sharp. We’ll make a stop at Forest Glen metro station (just off the beltway in Maryland at Georgia Ave.) at 1:30 pm to pick up those in Maryland and the bus will depart at 2:00 pm sharp. We’ll arrive in the Meadowland Sports Complex around 6:00 pm, in time to head inside and catch warmups before the 7:30 pm drop of the puck. The Crew bus will be returning to the D.C. area immediately following the game (expected arrival back in D.C. by 3:00 am). The cost of the trip is $75 per person (includes ticket and transportation costs). No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). There is no smoking allowed on the bus and time constraints will most likely prevent us from making any stops on the way. The bus is equipped with a restroom and video/TV units.
Ticket arrangements have been made and reservations are filling up fast. Please get your reservation in ASAP to guarantee your spot on the CRC Bus! A reservation should be considered a firm commitment as it will be used to finalize the group ticket purchase. Approximately 45 spaces are available. Full payment will be due by January 15, 2003.
December 21, 2002 | Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum | Uniondale, New York
Bus Trip
We’ve been to the Islanders’ arena many times but this was our first time going there on a bus, so of course we didn’t realize there were height restrictions on the route we’re used to driving! Thanks to the efforts of NYC-based friends of ours and several frantic cellphone calls we made to them in transit, we made it to the arena in time for everyone to get to their seats before the puck dropped on the opening period. A scoreless first turned tense when the Islanders opened the scoring in the 2nd, but two third period goals from Michael Nylander and an empty netter from Kip Miller sealed the win for DC! There are no photos from this trip.
Trip Itinerary
Wishing you a happy holiday! The Caps Road Crew will be hitting the road by bus traveling to the Nassau County Coliseum on Long Island, New York to see our Caps take on the tough Atlantic Division Islanders. A great holiday season matchup featuring Alexei Yashin, Kenny Jonsson, and the Isles against fellow countrymen Sergei Gonchar, Calle Johansson, and the Caps.
The CRC will make arrangements for bus transportation and group tickets. Unfortunately, due to the great demand for tickets to this game, we will not be able to provide tickets to those who do not travel on the bus with the Crew.
Current plans: The Crew will be meeting at Forest Glen Metro station (just off the Beltway in Maryland at Georgia Ave.) at 11:00 am on the 21st and the bus will leave no later than 11:30 am. We’ll arrive in Uniondale around 4:30 pm, leaving enough time (traffic permitting) to grab a quick bite to eat before heading inside to catch warmups before the 7:00 pm drop of the puck. The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area immediately following the game (expected arrival back in D.C. by 3:00 am). The cost of the trip is $100 per person (includes ticket and transportation costs).

The Sabres scored the only goal in the first period, but a shorty by Bonzai in the second, on top of a Sutherby even strength marker, tied it at two a piece heading into the third. There was a glimmer of hope when Jagr scored in the first three minutes of the third and the Caps held on for much of the frame, but Buffalo fought back with two lamp lighters with less than five minutes to go, ending the game to a tune of 4-3. There are no photos from this trip.
Trip Itinerary
The Caps Road Crew will be traveling to Buffalo, New York to watch the Caps in action against the Sabres at the HSBC Arena on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 7 pm.
The CRC will make arrangements for group tickets, however individual transportation (and lodging arrangements if desired) will be up to anyone attending.
Current plans- A contingent of the Crew will be driving up to Buffalo by car on Saturday, December 7. The Crew will meet up inside at the team store at the main entrance to the HSBC Arena at 6:00 pm. We’ll head inside by 6:20 pm for warmups and the 7 pm drop of the puck. It is likely that most of the Crew will be spending the night in Buffalo with a return to D.C. planned on Sunday.
And at some point while we’re in Buffalo, you know we’ll be hitting the Anchor Bar for the best wings around! If it’s good enough for Joe B. and the Locker…
Ticket requests must be placed ASAP to guarantee your tickets to sit with the CRC. Cost will be $80 per ticket.

A scoreless first period was unexpected when the Caps took three minor penalties. The Flyers made them pay in the second with one power play goal and one at even strength. What a day! The Crew ventured south to Raleigh for the NHL Draft and were not
disappointed! The day kicked off with the Caps selecting Alexander Ovechkin with the
number one overall pick in the draft. After a thoroughly fascinating day at the draft, the Crew buses headed to downtown Raleigh and the Sheraton City Center, site of the Washington Capitals post-draft party! Thanks to all who helped put together a great event! Certainly a top notch day all the way around for the team and its fans!
