Our first trip of the new year took us to Ohio’s capital, where the Caps took on the Blue Jackets for a Saturday night game. It was a high-scoring affair, with both teams netting four goals in regulation. The Caps were able to escape Nationwide Arena with a point after falling in a shootout.

We are very excited to be spending the first weekend of 2016 with the fine fans in Columbus, especially those at the R Bar Arena. The Roadies who went in 2010 are still talking about what a great time they had there and the staff at R Bar are always excited to see us. We are planning to be there when they open and we hope you’ll stop by and join us for an all-day happy hour.

The Caps Road Crew will be heading to PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, to see the Caps take on long time CRC favorites, the Carolina Hurricanes, for a rare New Year’s Eve game.

A small group of Roadies ventured north of the border for a weekend in Toronto, Ontario, the center of the hockey universe! Amidst a Saturday night tilt against the struggling Maple Leafs, there was some sightseeing and frivolity. Goals by Jason Chimera, Tom Wilson, Marcus Johansson, and Justin Williams lifted the spirits even more as the Caps doubled up the Leafs to the tune of 4-2.

It’s our first time in the Motor City! It’s also the penultimate season for the the Red Wings at the famous Joe Louis Arena, where so much of their history was made. It also happens to be the night that Sergei Fedorov is honored by the organization for his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. So, despite the 0-1 loss it was a night worth celebrating!

Our final trip of the season took our Roadies to Columbus, Ohio to face the Caps’ division rival, the Blue Jackets. After winning back-to-back games the previous Tuesday and Wednesday on the road with us in the house, we were hoping to continue the streak. The CRC went three-for-three, with the Caps scoring three goals in the 2nd period to win 3-2.

After the Minnesota game the previous night, the Crew traveled to Denver for a Wednesday night meeting with the Avalanche. After getting acclimated to the altitude, we headed to Pepsi Center and were surprised to find ourselves surrounded by other Caps fans! It was without exception the most visitor-centric crowd we’ve ever been a part of. The Caps put on a good show, winning 5-3.

Our first CRC trip to St. Paul wound up being one for the record books. Not only did we get treated to an Alex Ovechkin hat trick and a Caps win, but this marked the 30th NHL city where long-time Roadie and official Grillmeister of the Crew, Matt a.k.a. Sparky, has seen the Caps play.

The Crew traveled to Nashville for our second February trip of the year. 125 dedicated Roadies invaded Smashville, as the home fans call Bridgestone Arena, to see the Caps meet the Predators. The Preds were hungry that night, chewing up the Caps to the tune of 5-2.
