Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Hershey Bears
January 16, 2010 | Giant Center | Hershey, Pennsylvania
Bus Trip

The first trip of the new decade brought the Crew to Chocolate Town, USA for a match between the Hershey Bears and their hated rival Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins. A quick bus trip took us up to the Hershey Lodge where we had a pregame happy hour at the Bears’ Den. Afterward we headed to Giant Center where the Bears spanked the Baby Pens to the tune of 7-2.

Trip Itinerary

Hershey – Saturday, January 16, 2010

It’s da Bears playing da Pens.

UPDATE: This trip is now sold out. Contact us at info@capsroadcrew.com to be placed on the waitlist.

We will be hitting the road by bus to Giant Center to cheer on the hometown Hershey Bears as they take on their rival, the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.

The CRC has made arrangements for bus transportation and lower level group tickets. We’re certain some interesting pre-game plans will develop as we receive feedback from the guests.

Current plans: While our departure time will be determined by whatever pregame plans develop, it will be after 12 noon and will include a pickup in northern Virginia at Springfield Mall and one in Maryland at the Shady Grove Metro station (off I-270). Regardless of the pregame plans, we’ll arrive at Giant Center by 6 p.m., in plenty of time to head inside and catch warmups before the 7 p.m. drop of the puck. The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area as soon as possible following the game (expected arrival back at Shady Grove around 12:30am and Springfield Mall around 1:30am). The Metro will be open in time for both our departure and return and we encourage our guests to make use of it if convenient.

All of our available spaces include bus transportation and the cost will be $50 per person. No extra fees or money over the cost of the bus and game tickets will be charged. You may bring your own food and drink on the bus (coolers will be provided for your convenience). There is no smoking allowed on the bus and time constraints will most likely prevent us from making any stops on the way. The bus is equipped with a restroom and video/tv units.

Please get your reservation in ASAP to guarantee your spot on the CRC bus! A reservation should be considered a firm commitment as it will be used to finalize the group plans and others’ reservations. We will have space and tickets available for 50 people. To reserve your spot on the bus, or for more information, please e-mail info@capsroadcrew.com. (Please specify number of seats/tickets needed.)

Orange crush meets red scare!

Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers
December 5, 2009 | Wachovia Center | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Bus Trip

Two seasons after the CRC traveled to see Bruce Boudreau’s debut behind the Capitals’ bench in Philadelphia, we returned for the first game Peter Laviolette would coach for the Broad Street Bullies. He was disappointed, as we witnessed his team’s utter defeat from Suite 16. The Caps showed why they’re a force to be reckoned with (even with Alex Ovechkin out of the lineup), winning 8-2 over the foundering Fliers.

Trip Itinerary

The Caps Road Crew will be traveling to Philadelphia, PA to take a break from holiday shopping.

We will be hitting the road by bus to the Wachovia Center to cheer on the Caps as they take on our longtime conference rival, the Flyers, at 7 pm. We have acquired club level suite seats for this game (the same we had for the last two seasons) and with the Flyers treating us to an open bar and buffet, tailgating will not be necessary.

This is one of our most unique trips and has become a popular holiday gift idea for fellow Caps fans (Caps Road Crew gift certificates available). The Flyers front office always arranges for some exciting perks for our group and those they are working on for this game sound like a blast also.

The CRC has made arrangements for bus transportation and group tickets. We also have a VERY limited number of extra tickets to the game. If you don’t require bus transportation, are a DC area Caps fan, and would like to join the group, please email us ASAP at info@capsroadcrew.com to make arrangements.

Current plans: The Crew will be meeting at Greenbelt metro station (inner loop of the beltway in Maryland at Exit 24) at 3 p.m. on December 5th; the bus will depart at approximately 3:15 p.m. We’ll arrive at the Wachovia Complex by 5:30 p.m., in plenty of time to head inside and catch warmups before the 7:00 p.m. drop of the puck. The CRC bus will be returning to the D.C. area as soon as possible following the game (expected arrival back in Greenbelt around 12 a.m.). The subway will be open in time for both our departure and return and we encourage our guests to make use of it if convenient.

Our seats are excellent and with bus transportation, the cost for the trip will be $225 per person, the same as last season.

To reserve your spot on the bus, or for more information, please e-mail info@capsroadcrew.com. (Please specify number of seats/tickets needed.)

Trick or Treat at the Phone Booth!

New York Islanders at Washington Capitals
October 30, 2009 | Verizon Center | Washington, DC

There was a great turnout for the game on Friday, October 30. Although the night before Halloween is usually referred to as “Devil’s Night” the Caps instead faced the New York Islanders, who won in overtime. The Crew had their table behind section 400 and a grisly crime scene was the tableau. Bloody hockey equipment was strewn about the table but stalwart children of all ages braved the gore to come get their candy!

The entrants in our costume contest were happy to pose for photos. it came down to a tough decision, but the eventual winner deserved the award.

Trip Itinerary

Happy Halloween from the Caps Road Crew! Stay spooky, my friends.

It's Newark. Fugeddaboutit.

The first trip of the 2009-10 season brought the Crew back to the Rock for an evening match against the New Jersey Devils. Two busloads of Caps fans hit the road for the Garden State and came in force to Newark. Despite the 5-2 loss it was a fun trip.

The Caps Road Crew were on camera after Mathieu Perreault scored the 2nd goal of the game:

We wrap up the season in suite style!

Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers
March 22, 2011 | Wachovia Center | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Bus Trip

The Caps’ final meeting of the season against the Flyers was our first visit to the renamed Wells Fargo Center. The suite had been moved to the exact opposite corner of the arena, but the open bar and buffet were still awesome. After going up three goals and forcing the removal of starting netminder Sergei Bobrovski, the Caps allowed four unanswered before tying in the final minutes of regulation. Overtime wasn’t enough to end the game, but when Alexander Semin scored on his third shootout attempt he sent the Roadies into jubilation!

Washington Capitals at New York Islanders
February 26, 2011 | Nassau Coliseum | Long Island, New York
Bus Trip

Two buses of Roadies headed up I-95 to New York for a tilt between the Capitals and the Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum. After a brief happy hour at Doolin’s Pub we headed down for warmups, where Matt Hendricks gave us a stick tap as he skated by. A sloppy start gave the Isles a lead, but it was erased by 3 unanswered Caps goals, which gave the visitors the win.
