Final Trivia Tuesday Question, May 11

In what has been an odd Caps schedule, tonight is the last game of the regular season. This Caps captain coached his last NHL regular season game on this night. For the final Trivia Tuesday of the season, name him.

Trivia Tuesday Question for January 19th

The week-long trivia contest we had last spring to celebrate our 20th anniversary was a hit so we thought, “Why not make it a regular thing this season?”

So every Tuesday, we’ll put forth a trivia question via our homepage in the morning and on social media at noon using the hashtag, #TriviaTue. The answers can all be found on our website and shouldn’t be very hard.

The first correct answer emailed to info@capsroadcrew.com is the winner. No answers can be submitted via text, social media, or telepathy. The prize is a $25 gift card to Penn Quarter Sports Tavern which will come in handy when visiting their fantastic new beer garden to watch our Caps this season.

To get us started, here’s today’s #TriviaTue question: In our 20 seasons, we’ve only had three bus trips to Pittsburgh, all to different venues. Name them.

Good luck to All!

Hockey is back!

While our boys may be back at the rink, which is awesome, none of us fans can join them, which is not.  But like all events these days, we can enjoy the games virtually and stay safe doing so.

As for road games, it’s pretty obvious that the Crew will be grounded until next season which is even more disappointing as this season’s division-only schedule would have been EPIC for road trips. But we’ve got some fun ideas on tap to stay engaged on social media so be sure you’re following us on your platform of choice.

And as soon the weather turns warmer, we’ll put together some local viewing parties at PQST.  They’ve done an amazing job with their Beer Garden and Old Man Stilwell’s chili is just the thing on a brisk day.

Of course, feel free to reach out at info@capsroadcrew.com to say hi.  We miss all you beautiful boys and girls and babes!

Stay safe and sane,

CRC/HQ

Congratulations Mikey!

What a ride!

From the day we got to see Mike Green get drafted and throughout his time in DC, we were treated to not only a gifted player but also one of our favorite athletes to interact with. He truly appreciated the fan support he and the team received, both at home and by our Roadies at away games. As Mike announced his retirement last month, we look back with thanks for the great memories.

What a gift to be able to witness history in Tampa Bay on Valentine’s Day 2009 as Mike set the record for most consecutive games with a goal by a defenseman. It’s a record no player has come even close to matching in the 10+ seasons since. It was no surprise he did Caps Nation proud by being nominated for a Norris that season.

After being named Second Star in Philly in December that same year, for putting up two goals and two assists in an 8-2 shellacking of the home team, Mike not only took the ice when announced (kind of unheard of on the road), he skated over and saluted us Caps fans in attendance. What a beautician!

And while we never saw him wearing his player tee (looking at you Feds), Mike was one of the few players who was so enthusiastic about the fan support that he requested extras of his Gang Green threads. Stocking stuffers maybe?

We wish Mike and his family health and happiness in the next chapter of their lives. Dare we hope for a Young Guns reunion on a future visit to DC?
